Electrical Inspection and Testing

Inspection and Testing

Electrical safety inspections are incredibly important in ensuring the safety and well-being of everyones home. They serve a critical role in identifying potential hazards or risks associated with electrical installations, such as overloaded systems, electric shock risks, fire hazards, and defective electrical work.

What is an Electrical Inspection Condition Report – EICR?

An EICR, or Electrical Inspection Condition Report (Electrical Certificate), involves a comprehensive assessment of your property’s electrical systems and installations. The purpose is to identify any potential dangers stemming from conditions, deterioration, or defects.

According to a report by Electric Safety First, approximately 20,000 electricity-related fires occur in the UK annually. The majority of these incidents are attributed to electrical products, while 9% are caused by faulty wiring.

An EICR is either recommended or mandatory in the following circumstances:

  1. Change of occupancy of the premises. If you are buying a property an electrical inspection is always recommended.
  2. Change of use of the premises.
  3. Alterations or additions to the original installation.
  4. Where there is reason to suspect damage may have occurred to the installation

If you are buying or renting out a property or have concerns with your electrics please call today to discuss them with me.
